India, with its vast population of over 1.4 billion people, faces a daily struggle for existence. Millions are muted by the sheer demands of survival—fighting for the most basic necessities: shelter, food, and the hope of a healthy body. For a country with such rich cultural and historical heritage, the reality of poverty is a sad but undeniable factor affecting nearly 300 million people.

The Overlooked Threat of Colorectal Diseases

Amid these overwhelming challenges, another crisis silently festers—one that often goes unnoticed: the rapid increase in colorectal diseases. Conditions such as piles, fissures, fistulas, and the more deadly colon cancer are not just health issues; they are social vices. They degrade the dignity of those who suffer, rendering them voiceless in their pain and often without access to the care they so desperately need.

Imagine a mother in a rural village enduring the excruciating pain of untreated piles, or a young father in an urban slum unaware that his constant pain could be a sign of a far more serious problem. These are just two examples among millions of Indians suffering from colorectal issues without realizing that, if left untreated, these conditions can lead to devastating outcomes.

The Heart-Wrenching Statistics

  • Population Below the Poverty Line: India has 31.9 % of the population living below the poverty line and most of them will be hard put to even earn their daily bread, forget about healthcare.
  • Malnutrition and Lack of Quality Food: Many experience hunger and they are also able to be easily affected by awful diseases and illnesses because their body is weak due to malnutrition and inadequate supplies of vitamins and necessary minerals; they easily fall prey to colorectal diseases.
  • Colorectal Diseases: Irritable bowel syndrome, piles, fissures and fistulas are very common health problems giving immense pain to millions of people in this country but mostly in hush.
  • Colorectal Cancer: Every year alone sixty thousand people lose their lives to colorectal cancer in India – a death that could have been averted through timely diagnosis of the condition.
