A significant walkathon program was organized on World Piles Day (20th November 2024) through a collaboration with S.D. Jayaram Hospital, S.D. Jayaram School of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, Mandya, and Smiles Institute of Gastroenterology, Mattikere, Bangalore. This initiative brought together healthcare experts, students, and community members to raise awareness about piles, a common yet often neglected health issue.
The walkathon witnessed the active participation of over 300 students, primarily from the S.D. Jayaram School of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences. These students played a pivotal role in spreading crucial information about the prevention and treatment of piles. Marching through the streets of Ashoka Nagar, Mandya, the participants carried banners and shared educational messages, ensuring that the local community was engaged and informed.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Collector Dr. H. L. Nagaraju, whose presence underscored the importance of addressing piles as a public health concern. His support and guidance inspired participants and added a layer of credibility to the campaign. By uniting institutions like S.D. Jayaram Hospital and the Smiles Institute of Gastroenterology, this initiative emphasized the power of partnerships in improving community health outcomes.
